English golfer and former world number one Luke Donald has announced that he is all set to ditch his long time coach in a desperate bid to break his duck in the major championships.

The 35 year old has been working with coach Pat Goss for the past 16 years and has had spells at the top of the Official World Golf Rankings but his failure to land him the biggest prizes in golf has left him frustrated and he has finally decided to end the relationship with Goss.

Donald has decided to bring in the services of Chuck Cook as his new coach and the American certainly comes with a pedigree that is second to none in the coaching world at the moment having had previous stints coaching the likes of major winners such as Corey Pavin, Payne Stewart as well as the current and newly crowned US PGA Championship winner Jason Dufner.

And Luke Donald will be hoping the American can weave a similar sort of magic on his play and land him the much desired major title. Donald, however, also confirmed that he will not completely do away with the services of Goss and will continue to retain him to help him with the short game but he added that he felt the time was right to try something different and new as he aims to break his major duck in 2014.

He mentioned that he has gone with Chuck because he wants to make his long game more consistent in order to improve his chances of landing a major. Luke Donald went on to add that he has come to realize that the major championships come with a different philosophy and the players need to adapt to it.

Let’s hope Donald does break his major duck next season.

England has produced a couple of challengers to challenge for the number one throne in golf and stand up to the American golfers particularly Tiger Woods and the flag bearer of that English challenge, Luke Donald, is now busy preparing for the BMW PGA Championship which takes place in a week’s time. But the former world number one took a break from his search for a three-peat in the tournament as he dropped by London and the Buckingham Palace to receive one of the biggest honors of his life from the Queen of England.

Donald was conferred with the MBE (Most Excellent Order of the British Empire), an honor that is bestowed on civilians as well as service personnel for the service done for the public as well as other distinctions. Luke Donald is someone who is noted for his work as a philanthropist apart from his credentials as one of the greatest golfers in the world. Apart from holding the world number one ranking in the Official Golf World Rankings for a grand total of 55 weeks, the Englishman has also been noted for the service he has done for trusts like First Tree, helping raise millions of dollars for the sport.

Donald released a press statement where he stated that he is extremely pleased to have received such a prestigious honor from Her Majesty, the Queen of England. He went on to add that 2011 and 2012 have been significant years for him, both on a personal and professional point of view and he feels great that his achievements have been recognized and appreciated.

Luke Donald won both the money titles in the PGA Tour as well as the European Tour and won two titles on Tour the following year, although he lost his number one status that year.

Due to the storm that erupted suddenly in the midst of the Malaysian Open, the world number 3 Luke Donald could not make the cut as the event had to be reduced to 54 holes. After finishing at one-over-par 73 he felt equally disappointed as his fans did. But this is not going to bother him for the Masters that starts in Augusta on April 11 because this is one big event he is looking up to and would go to any length to get it right. Luckily, he has a couple of weeks in his hand when he can practice as much s he can and get prepared for the best.

At the Malaysian Open, in Kuala Lumpur although Luke Donald got a chance in the second round after he opened his round with a two-over 74 but missed the cut after ding a double bogey seven on the par-five 10^th. He is considered to be one of the most dependable putters when it comes to world golf and he too felt the need because he required 34 putts in the second round of the Malaysian Open. He had been just two shots away from the lead with 14 holes needed from the third round. He speculated that the difference in the greens with which he is not acquainted is the reason behind his performing poorly. He analyzed that they were a little slower and he could not adapt to them. He also blamed that the courses were too narrow.

Lately, things are not going right for the Englishman golfer Luke Donald. He could not practise much after coming back from Tampa Bay Championship in Florida. He first won as a professional at the 2008 USPGA Championship at Oakland Hills.
